MySmartPrice recently conducted a Laptop Consumer Survey across multiple platforms in order to gain a better understanding of consumer preferences. This indicates that Indian consumers favour HP and Dell laptops over all others.

Over 11,000 laptop owners participated in the MSP Laptop Consumer Survey and provided information regarding their purchasing preferences and rationale. The majority of them were younger than 18 years old.

HP: India's Most Popular Laptop Brand


According to MSP's Laptop Consumer Report, HP is the most popular brand in India. 25% of respondents own an HP laptop, followed by 19% who own a Dell model. Lenovo ranked third in the survey, with 12.87 percent of owners.

The remaining 10.84% of respondents preferred laptops from the brands listed in the graph below.

The data demonstrates that despite not aggressively launching laptops in India, HP holds a substantial share of the Indian laptop market.

 Purchasing Laptops for Less Than Rs 25,000


42.79 percent of respondents indicated that their current laptop costs less than Rs. 25,000. India is a price-sensitive market, and brands such as HP and Dell offer numerous options in this segment.

This could be one of the primary reasons why these companies are at the top of buyers' preference lists. 29.22% of consumers have laptops with prices ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000. 

16,75% of respondents own a laptop priced between Rs 40,000 and Rs 60,000, while 7.71% own a laptop priced between Rs 60,000 and Rs 1,000,000. Only 3.52 percent of respondents own laptops that cost more than Rs 1 lakh.

Factors Users CThe MSP Laptop Consumer Report found that when purchasing a new laptop, speed and battery life are the two most important factors for consumers.
